Helping Families Thrive: Westminster Neighborhood Services, Inc.

Tucked into the heart of Indianapolis’s Near Eastside, Westminster Neighborhood Services has been quietly transforming lives for decades. This dedicated nonprofit meets neighbors where they are, offering more than just meals and school supplies.

Westminster operates a food pantry, soup kitchen, and educational programs that support K-8 students year-round. Beyond meeting immediate needs, they focus on empowering families with resources, connections, and opportunities to break the cycle of poverty.

One of their signature events each summer is the Back to School Bash, a joyful community celebration that ensures local students head into the school year confident, prepared, and excited to learn. The event brings together volunteers, donors, and families to provide free backpacks, school supplies, uniforms, and lunch. It is about more than giving away items; it is about removing barriers, boosting confidence, and showing kids they have a community rooting for them.

This month, members of the RepuCare team had the privilege of volunteering at the Bash, helping set up for the big day by unboxing and organizing supplies for students in need. It was a hands-on way to be part of the effort to give children the strong start they deserve.

It is community care in action: neighbors helping neighbors, children gaining confidence, and families finding hope. In a city that thrives on compassion, Westminster is a reminder that small acts of service can spark big change.
